Good News, Folks Mike Roper here. Don' t let my name throw you. At Texas' Best Steelers Bar, Austin Avenue in Plano, Texas, I' m simply called "Roper" . Or on occasion, I refer to myself by my self-anointed title, "Texas' Biggest Steelers Fan", TBSF for short. And in some corners, I' ve even been labeled "the Rapper" .

However you know me, I' m the loon at the southwest corner of the three tables up front (calling the front screen north). For those of you who don' t know, this area of the club is the section comprising those whose ideas it was to have and those who founded the club, along with quality establishment ownership. I' m the one who puts on the afforenamed TouchDown Helmet whenst I have the feeling in a game that good fortunes are (and in some cases "must" ) headed our way.

Thought I' d let everyone know I' ll be writing my own column during the season to help offer some additional perspectives to our club' s website. The one you' re on in order to read this happy introduction letter.

Now I know what many of you are already thinking. "oh muuuuuuuuhhhh gosh! It' s bad enough we' re overexposed to Roper already during the games. Now I gotta go home and listen to him on paper, too?" That' s right. If you' ll oblige & That' d be great. So then you think, "Uuuuuuuhhhhhh, well what are you going to be yacking about? The Steelers? Because we already saw the game and anything between the lines we have our buddy Tim for his weekly jottings. Plus a just a few other sources.

For those of you so unprivileged enough to have shared in my previous e-mail threads, you already know there are many Roperisms (thoughts 100% Roper-conjured) on many subjects. And you already know I live and breathe football. You' re darn right I' m a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. That said, I' m also a football fan. As far as I' m concerned, there should be NFL football on six days a week (the other day reserved for college football). I intend to cover specific subjects (many I' ve already prepared) not limited to any specific team. I just want to toss an extra perspective, one that' s not available anywhere else and hence will be new to your eyeballs. I'll actually make an attempt to show that I actually am more literate than you might assume as I act "normal" around the bar. Why I could include anything from "Key elements of Manning' s biggest losses" to "What a dreadful decision Houston made in passing on Bush" to "A horrible GM that is Matt Millen" & I don' t wanna play all my cards right away. You' ll have to keep checking the site for postings. And if you' re on the club list, you' ll receive updates automatically. But I' ll do my best to toss out some interesting reads. I promise my first will be in less than a week (will be a long but very good one hits home to any Steeler fan!). And unlike weekly football games, the articles will pop up at no predetermined frequency. Whatever, whenever. All I ask is you give me a couple chances.
